Katarzyna Jarząb

Born in 1994 in Mikołów. PhD Candidate in Arts at the Pedagogical University in Cracow. Graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 2019 she received an MA Diploma with distinction in The Painting’s Studio of Andrzej Bednarczyk, annex to diploma in The Audiosphere’s Studio of Marek Chołoniewski at Intermedia Department.

She works with paintings, objects, installations and sound art. Obsessively draws grids, lines. Interested in convergences in the process of composing music and image. Introduces the experience of visual arts in the area of issues occurring in the so-called new music. Analyzes and notes mechanisms, creations at the interface of arts. Assuming that visuality is first of all arranging in space, while music – in time – is interested in examples where space directly relates to time and inversely. The starting point is an empty sheet of paper, the surface ordered through a grid, a line or separated area. She deals with the concept of the area, as a defined space, a field, designated area of activity. Fascinated by repetition and what might result from it.
